Hello All. I got an M2 MBA back in 2022, and I loved it—I'm now on an M4 MBA. Wonderful laptop, wonderful color. Better, for me, than a black laptop.
How have I dealt with fingerprints? Well, I read a fantastic piece here at these forums back in 2022 about the Midnight finish:
Here's the piece on the Midnight finish.
In followups, the user said his initial recommendation of Renaissance Wax was unnecessary—he recommended Plexus, which is a protectorant used on airline cockpit plastics.
Plexus at Amazon—one can lasts many years.
I have used Plexus now for almost six years. I know I am just a person on a forum, but fwiw it has worked perfectly—I don't know the physics, you can consult the original thread for that, but it makes my Midnight MBA impervious to fingerprints w/o changing very much at all about the surface texture.
I reapply it every 4-6 months or so—I'm not strict about it, but if it starts showing fingerprints (which is usually closer to 6 months) I clean it and apply the Plexus. I do it the same way described in the first article—just the metal parts, not the screen or keys.
So join me if you want a Midnight MBA that has no fingerprints. There have been no downsides, issues, or problems in all this time.
