Would You Like A Touchscreen iMac?

Before my Imac 27 , I had a HP touchsmart PC. I can honestly say from experience that the touchscreen is useless. And when your dealing with a 27" Imac which is siting 2 to 3 feet away from you trying to touch the screen wouldn't be convenient.
While a touch screen is useful in a Macbook Pro or Iphone forget about being useful in an Imac.

I think there could be some really cool ways to use a touchscreen monitor, but a touchscreen iMac? No, I don't think so. The trackpad and new gestures are making a touch-like experience possible without actually having to suffer through holding your hands up to a vertical screen.

Plus, it will look disgusting. There is absolutely no way that Steve Jobs will allow his high end products to look that way. Every iMac in the Apple store would be gross looking.

That said, we use Pro Tools in our studio and I've often thought about how cool a 27" touch screen monitor, laid on the desk would be--combined with a standard vertical monitor. The virtual sliders and knobs are godawful with a mouse and even worse with a trackpad. Multitouch functionality for those would be awesome--but it's a niche market.

Only if there were a matte screen option!

But with the current design, the 27" iMac would not be very ergonomic. It's just too large, and most people have it set at about 1.5 - 2 feet away which is a bit far to reach.

Did anybody read my post? There is a company that makes touchscreen iMacs. They're called Troll Touch and you can go visit their webpage and see what they offer. I have seen their products in the past and thought they were pretty cool.

Sometimes when Apple doesn't want to make something happen, so someone else does. So it may not be factory direct OEM, but they do exist, and are available.

We read it, still not interested in a touchscreen iMac, cool as it may be that they're available. :)

It's an ergonomics and interface double-whammy. Maybe if it were mounted onto a tabletop. But not with the OS X interface.

Sooo... basically, something like a... tablet. With an interface specifically designed for touch.

And that product already exists.

Since the question is "Would you like to see...?" -Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing it.

If you meant "Would you be interested in buying...?" Absolutely not. I don't see a reason for it.
