i never own an iPhone before, and i'm coming from android.
i was wondering if anyone has actually pay $1000 for an unlocked iPhone 4s. i'm talking about a legitimate purchased at the apple store right here in the usa. because i'm getting ready to pull a trigger on one myself tomorrow.
i feel like my ego is getting to the best of me, i mean one grand for an 64gb iPhone 4s with extended warranty, am i going out of my mind here. it wouldn't make sense to pay almost $900 for the device and shy to pay another $99 for the extended warranty.

would you pay a grand for an iPhone?

thanks folks

lol nooo....

$300 was a crazy lot for my Verizon 32GB iPhone 4. I got it because I've used an env2 with no internet, games, music, etc. for 2 years and it was my birthday to justify it as a present.

No way!
I would get a flip phone, ipad2 and 4g hotspot before spending $1000 on a phone

It would depend on my needs. If I knew I was going to be traveling abroad a lot, yes, it would be worth it. You could easily spend 100 bucks a week roaming.

Well I paid £499 for my iPhone 4S 16GB but I doubt I would pay another £50+ on top of that just for a phone so my answer would be a definite no.

I always buy my phones handset only, so I pay the full price. It's a better deal in the long term than a contact if you tally it up. I say go for it.

People that are on verizon who aren't upgrade eligable pay retail price. The 64gb iPhone 4S is $850 plus taxes. So not a 1k, but pretty close to $900 ish with the taxes.

Not completely true.....

I had a flip phone with contract and cancelled it, and had to pay the remaining amount after receiving $5 off each month I had the phone, than purchased a new contract with the iPhone and a new 2 yr contract, but did not have to pay full price.

Yeah, a coworker of mine was playing with my iPhone yesterday and wanted to get one. But she wasn't due for an upgrade until August 2012. She went over to Verizon, and she walked out with an iPhone 4, a case, screen protector, car charger (basically the whole bundle) for a little over 200 bucks total.

Depending on my professional needs at the time, I might fork over $1000; for personal use, I would say probably not.

What I am trying to say is that the phone will cost more than $1000 anyways whether you buy it on a two year contract or you buy it without one.

No, the service will cost more than $1,000 over the next 2 years, but the phone would still have cost me $199 at the point of purchase.

Their is a difference.

I wouldnt spend another $200 for more storage and an extra $100 for insurance but that's just me.
There's plenty of people that would and do purchase them full price every day. It depends, if its worth it to you and if you can afford it go for it. If not then get it under contract to save some money.

Thank you, I felt confused for a second. I was like, well yea you still have to pay for some sort of data plan? Unless you're just using it like your phone like you would use an iPod touch?

And I only pay 30$/month for my phone bill. Thank god for family plans.

I pay £10 (about $15) a month for 250 minutes, unlimited texts, and unlimited internet on a phone I paid £500 (about $750) for. I tallied this up and it's a far better deal than any contract. I even went into shops run by networks and asked them to beat my deal, and they all told me right out that they couldn't. I can only get this deal because I use pay as you go, NOT contract. The main reason the deal is so much better, aside from the great price, is the fact my network also pays me, so I in fact make a profit each month.

As I said, if you tally it up, the upfront cost is worth the smaller overall cost. But you sometimes have to shop around and find really good deals ;)
