Yeah it will be so thin, are you interested in paying so much for 1 camera phone? So thin also means it would be so easily to be broken. Even with a case, just a drop or put it at the back pocket then sit may totally break it already. Apple Care or a lot of money for repairing is expected, Apple is so smart. You don’t like this way? Pay more for Pro then, Apple wins again.

$1000 may be for 128gb only.

For drops, it might actually be more durable. I’ve seen tests comparing the aluminum iPhone to the stainless steel iPhone Pro and the cheaper aluminum iPhone did better because it was lighter.

I never understood having a phone’s in a back pocket and sitting down on it. Do some people not have feeling in their rear end to know their phone there? Anything could be crushed if the person is heavy enough and they sit down hard enough.

I always have AppleCare on an iPhone. Generally sometime within the two year period I will severely damage my phone. The price of AppleCare is always cheaper than the price to repair it without AppleCare.

If that’s what it cost. That’s the price of the pro so I suspect it would be around that.

The pro (not max) 256gb should be $1200, so even $1100 with 256gb of Air is still cheaper than pro.

I wouldn’t buy a single camera phone at this point in history. I’ve been using the Xʀ since 2019. I will be upgrading to the 16 Plus soon and no more single camera iPhones for me. It’s time.

A lot of us put the phone at the back pocket. When you sit and start to feel something is there, it is already broken.

MR is a rumors site, and IMO did a very good job of summarizing iPhone Air rumors from multiple sources for us. Sorry but the OP just picking a few of the specifics and treating them as what the Air will be seems not worth commenting on.

A new iPhone Air could be way cool and a value, or it could be an overpriced dog. My guess is that it will be a good new device in the iPhone stable.

We don't really know what the specifications will be for sure. Just because it has a single lens doesn't mean it will be the same camera as the 16E. I'd have to wait until it is released and tested before I decide what its value is.

I assume that price is main camera of 17 pro

I don't care about the iPhone camera quantity. I might pay $1000 for other features, but the camera isn't one of them. My DSLR, despite being years old, blows away anything an iPhone can take, and it only has one camera.

That said, I just bought a 16 Pro this year and won't be buying a replacement for the next 4 years, at least, so it's all academic.

Ridiculous way of asking the question.
A phone is a lot more than the number of lenses on its back.
If the rumors of a 6.7 screen in an aluminum body that’s as thin as 5.6MM are true, it could end up being the lightest phone in the entire line-up, it could even have a weight similar to the old SE or the 13 Mini, but it will feel even lighter because of how big the body is.

So then your question becomes, would you pay $1000 for a phone that’s 30% thinner and lighter?

My current iPhone 15 Pro Max is 221G, the iPhone Air could be as low as 150G. If literally the only trade off was the back camera, that doesn’t seem that bad to me. I haven’t barely used my camera since I bought the phone.
Personally, I probably won’t purchase it, but there are absolutely people who will.
It’s 30% thinner and lighter, that’s the selling point. It will also probably be the phone with the most new color options.

I guess it depends on the person. I occasionally put it in my back pocket and I’ve felt it as I was sitting down, but I didn’t apply pressure. It’s not a problem for me but I could see it being a problem for some people.

I know some people who sit down more quickly, so there would not likely be any chance to avert disaster. I’d say that’s something a person has to figure out about themselves. The fix would be making a habit to not put it in their back pocket. I used to put keys in the same pocket with my phone until that caused a problem and I stopped doing that. It was ages ago and I wore tighter fitting clothes.

Currently?

I have a habit of putting my phone in my back pocket, as my work-issued and required scrubs only have one pocket (back left). I occasionally sit on my phone and it's always been fine. That said, I'm not heavy at 150lb.

I thought we gave up on the thin race a decade ago when the iphone 6 bent so easily.

Making phones thinner at the cost of battery life seems silly to me. I just don't see this model selling very well at all.

Given that the 16E has shown Apple's willing to offer a 2X telephoto (cropped, but still) in a single lens budget phone, I suspect the Air will be similar. That's plenty for me - if I need more I'll use my actual camera.

Woman’s pants are no joke. I assume most people having their phones in their back pockets are guys with stuff in their front pockets and girls. Front pockets in woman’s pants are mostly humorously small.

My pro allows me to countless drop or or sit on or whatever with a military grade case. But Air would be so thin that it would be like that.

I expect Apple offer all 0.5 1 2 3 zoom with one camera and that price of Air

I’m in the camp that thinks we should put better single cameras that can function as multiple lenses for anything that’s not Pro. The 17 Air is the form factor I’m most interested in, razor thin device with potentially great battery life. If the 16e is anything to go by, most people will be surprised how good the battery life is due to the C1 modem.
