Yeah it will be so thin, are you interested in paying so much for 1 camera phone? So thin also means it would be so easily to be broken. Even with a case, just a drop or put it at the back pocket then sit may totally break it already. Apple Care or a lot of money for repairing is expected, Apple is so smart. You don’t like this way? Pay more for Pro then, Apple wins again.

$1000 may be for 128gb only.

if it was the size of the 12/13 mini than I absolutely would in a second

We still don't know what the camera capabilities will be nor the specs.

I still wonder if they've squashed a proper telephoto lens into it, personally.

Short answer: No, but not because it has only one camera. That is actually a plus for me.

Long answer:

I would gladly pay for an iPhone that is:

• As light as possible

• As thin as possible

• Not too large (maximum 6.1)

• Has good battery life

• Powerful enough for the next 3–4 years

• Has Action Button (I’ve never liked the switch)

• Has no camera bump (or a nearly flat camera design)

I don’t even need an OLED display, let alone a 120Hz screen. 64GB of base storage is enough for me because I store everything in the cloud. One camera is enough—I can take all the photos I need with it. MagSafe? Don’t need it. Wi-Fi 7 or whatever it’s called? Doesn’t matter. Wi-Fi has worked the same for me since the iPhone 4s, so I don’t care what the Wi-Fi chip is. The same goes for other “numbers on paper.”

Everything else is unnecessary for me and only adds to the price.

But unfortunately, the iPhone Air won’t be this. Sure, it will be thin, but it will be packed with unnecessary specs just to drive up the price.

I would if the single camera was the best on the market. I don't use wide or zoom lenses often so if it was a larger sensor and you got image quality with optical zoom as well, I'd go for that as the single lens iPhones simply look the cleanest and are nicer to hold.

I think it needs a much better camera ultra wide angle at about 200mp to get away with it so can punch in. Obviously, Apple isn’t Samsung so that ain’t happening. It also needs to last as long as the Pro at a minimum with battery life. I don’t think that’s happening. It must have a SIM card tray - that’s definitely not happening. So the answer is no from me.

Will be interesting for sure. I think the design will look much better than the Pro models. The ugly three camera array would look so nice if they arranged them like on the Google Pixel 8/9 phones. Have an 8 Pro and it’s pretty incredible. Also have a 15 Pro Max. The Pixel feels better in every way except I can type faster on the iPhone. Also, the ecosystem. The damned ecosystem is what Apple has that has me trapped. I want out though.

Woman’s pants are no joke. I assume most people having their phones in their back pockets are guys with stuff in their front pockets and girls. Front pockets in woman’s pants are mostly humorously small.
Here’s the stupid thing most people don’t know. For less than $10, can get larger pockets sewn into just about any clothing. Take clothes to a tailor and enjoy the fit and the pockets to fit the phones.

We need to know more about the phone's capabilities. Based on current rumors, the iPhone 17 Air will be a thinner (but physically larger!), more expensive version of the iPhone 17 with one less camera. It is hard to imagine that is a winning formula. Therefore it is likely that the Air has something else to offer that we don't know about

I thought we gave up on the thin race a decade ago when the iphone 6 bent so easily.

Making phones thinner at the cost of battery life seems silly to me. I just don't see this model selling very well at all.
No, the iPhone 6 did not bend so easily. Just clickbaiters who played at making silly videos. We can bend any iPhone.

I wish Apple would troll us all with the rumors and actually make the 17 Air thin AND small.
I would be very inclined to buy an all screen iPod Touch 4th generation.
2 years later for far less than 1k, but I would consider it after my current 15 Pro.

Well, there are durability tests for each iPhone and the 6 on average flexed the fastest and didn’t spring back into shape more often than any other iPhone before and after. Since the iPhone 8 & X I’m confident there is no common or easy way to bend any iPhone without breaking the glass first.

For $ 1000, a single photo sensor, increased fragility ... it makes you think. Apple is betting on the ultra-thin design, but if it breaks too easily, it becomes a spending trap. At this price, you might as well aim for a Pro model or a more solid alternative.
Agree. I have no need for a thin breakable phone.

Given that the 16E has shown Apple's willing to offer a 2X telephoto (cropped, but still) in a single lens budget phone, I suspect the Air will be similar. That's plenty for me - if I need more I'll use my actual camera.
The 17 Air will probably be 3x zoom to separate it from the 16e 2x zoom. If the 17 Air will cost more than the 17 base I wonder what features will they differentiate?

No it look more like a $450-500 phone and no matter how thin it still has the bump unless they would remove it make it flat where you buy separate magnetic lenses to attach to it when wanting to take a pic then it would be thin etc as long as you have the bump not much benefit

I read rumors that they wanted this phone to be completely port-less, but the EU shut that down.

My guess after reading that rumor was that they would increase wireless charge speeds for this device and really market the hades out of that. Maybe that's still something they will do?

Dam EU. I say Apple 🍎 be in defiance and go port less anyway.

In a word, no.

No, I would not, is the most concise answer to that question.
Concise and to the point.

And an answer with which I am in complete agreement.

I have to say I am very keen to see what the new Air is all about personally.

EDIT: The more I use my 14 Pro Max the more I think I'll buy the Air, I do use the zoom feature in the camera now and then but only 2X and it isn't really zoom like in a real camera anyway, it's just using another lens and sensor. Although the system does work the 16e camera results are simply stunning and prove a single lens camera can still be good.

Yes I will. I want a crazy thin and light iPhone.

No I don't think it will break easily. Apple will do extensive testing to ensure that.

And you shouldn't be putting a smartphone in your back pocket in the first place.
