My guess is that 2018 we'll have the iPad dock with a similar function in macOS - with a swipe up from the bottom of your trackpad to reveal it. It would make it easier to switch apps when in fullscreen mode, and I guess that iPad-style window management wouldn't exactly hurt the mac either - overlays over fullscreen apps, advanced drag-and-drop options...

That Green button maximize is annoying the crap out of me that I have to install betterTouchTool to fix it.

The Launchpad is also completely useless. I don't even know why they even bother to add it and make it a default icon in dock.

Apple Developer said that "There are no plans to address this."
I was very disappointed because of the lack of GUI changes in High Sierra. I hope that they will (at least slightly) update the user interface next year, but I doubt it after receiving this response from Apple...
