A geographical oddity
I can't believe that so-and-so of a human being is actually suing her parents. It's not like they abuse her....I mean she is apparently close enough to them that momma merits a birthday visit.

The only thing that I think might justify it is if they are trying to rip off the parents' homeowners insurance policy. But if the judge rules negligence, I don't think the policy will pay. So what's the deal?

Oh mom, because I fell on your driveway because of some minor accident, I've decided to litigate you for $75,000 dollars. I love you too.

Where's that will?

Well, we definitely know who's NOT going to get any money when their parents die.

Actually, I say give her something,

I hereby leave unto thy daughter who thou hast litigated us long ago, that thoult shalt have thy dog **** of thy springer spaniel. Everything else, goes to other family members. Thy daughter is not to be given power of attorney over us, in case we should ever encounter each other, again. This is to prevent DNR.

I don't think I could. There's just something inherently wrong about it. I do think it depends on the situation though. I'm sure other people may have very valid reasons to sue their parents.

Well, I mean, they do have control over my finances. If I'm ever disowned, I do want access to my Trust Fund. I would sue over control for that. But this...well, this is just ********.

Some parents are guilty of a lot of crap.
Having said that, surely this would be covered by household insurance anyway?
I'm sure there are, but suing them for an icy driveway? I remember my parents let me grow up with some common sense (be careful on ice)...

And if they are found grossly negligent, it may not be covered. I'm not sure what the argument is - that they had a duty to warn her as a licensee of the known natural danger? I would think that since you can see it, there is no duty to warn. But, what do I know - I still haven't taken the bar (although since it's next week, standard opinion is that I know more law now than I will ever again...)

I certainly wouldn't support it unless it was an insurance deal. But somebody has lost up to $75,000, so I'm not surprised they're trying it on.

I would under these conditions:
A.) I told them repeatedly about said icy driveway
2.) I was somehow unable to rectify the situation myself (because their first response would be to tell me where the ice-melt and/or hair dryer are located  )
III.) They had disowned me.
Four.) I was no longer covered under their insurance. (This one actually applies now.)

So it would take quite a bit for that.

If they were negligent, and I had a serious injury(broken bones, etc.) I would sue MAYBE.

I think might deserve it.

EDIT: I mean if the concrete was bad, cracked and dented

In a heart beat.

But really, Never. They have given me so much, and do so many things for me. I would only sue them if the threw me on the street with nothing. But that would never happen, So I voted never,

when i attain my llb and become a solicitor, i will be driving around looking for wet driveways...first in my area, then in the nearby villages, and then in every commonwealth nation out there

that will, in fact, be easier than chasing an ambulance ;)

Never. They've given me so much, and, I mean, they're my parents. I love them too much.:p

Well, perhaps I would under a few ridiculously unrealistic circumstances, but that would never happen.

I definitely agree... like that one top gymnast, Dominique ________ (last name?), I think she sued her parents because she had earned a vast sum of money and they wouldn't relinquish it to her control (after she had turned 18 years old). Something like that...
