So here is my dilemma

I currently have an iPhone x which I've had since launch.
Battery really could do with replacing (Cost £69)
For some reason Hey siri also doesn't seem to work unless I press the side button (i.e. it doesnt respond to hey Siri)

Seen that you can get a new iPhone 11 for £650.

I can also get a recycle value of £305 for the iphone x

SO my thinking is paying £345 effectively for the iphone 11 and then trade that in when the iphone 12 comes out.
Obviously the iphone 11 will also have a higher trade in value than the iphone x when the 12 comes out. And it will save me £69 for the battery upgrade.

Alternatively I just get the battery replaced for £69.

Am I likely to notice the poorer screen on the 11 after coming off of a X?

Personally? Never. I also have a launch day X and the best days of the battery are long gone, but I'm waiting until October. I was considering switching in the autumn, but talked myself out of it as I considered a waste replacing a fully functional phone. Now it makes even less sense. By switching now, it is likely you'll lose money in the end, if you take into account the resale value of your potential 11.

Having said that, if you decide to switch, then no, you'll not notice the difference. The display on the 11 is as excellent as they come.

I've had my X since release and even though the battery has seen better days I'm waiting till the 6.1 12 Pro is released to replace it... I figure if I pay to have the battery replaced I can gift it to a family member who has an older device or I can just keep it as a backup phone. At least in my situation my X still has no issues that would cause me to want to replace it early but it may be worth it to you to go with an 11

Yeah, aware that I'll lose money, but my thinking is

11 will be worth approx £100 more than an X at trade in time for the 12.
Cost of battery replacement is £69
So I'll be down £345 - £69 - £100 = £176.

Yeah, it really depends on calculation - so how much you'll get for the X now or for the 11 in the autumn (or for the X with a new battery in the autumn) and which model of the 12 you will want to buy (I.e. how much extra you will have to spend). If the numbers are fine for you, then sure, do it. What's the issue with Siri, btw? Have you tried to fix it somehow?

For me the 11 would have been a trade-off in the camera department - on one hand you get night mode, on the other you lose telephoto, which I use a lot during my travels.

Yes worth it, I just replaced my Xs for a 11 pro max to go with my personal 11 pro max. I will still get a 12 if I like the features.
