In a more serious vain what value does removing the home button add to the iPad? As has already been mentioned simply adding 1/2" to the longest dimension of the screen doesn't really work. It may add some aesthetic value but that's subjective. Where I think it hurts is that your changing the way people interact with the device. Anyone whose used an iPhone or iPad is familiar with the home button and how it works. You need to think twice about changing something that your users have spent the last few years coming to know as how it works
