I think more of the reason anyone speaks up about it is because the white iPhone has both silver and gold rings around the home button and the black one has nothing. It's more of the principal rather than a need.

Can't argue with the current stealth look because it does look good. But I wouldn't mind a space gray TouchID ring like the exact same color as the protruding camera ring.
