I'm pretty attached to my iPhone, but I'm not going to sit here and bash it. Personally, I think its a damn nice phone and the UI seems like its a huge step ahead of all the other phone trying to compete with Apple. Biggest fail point for me is the slide out keyboard. I know a lot of people are aching for their lost physical keyboards, but I've used a phone with something very similar to that one (some LG my sister has) and I'm definitely sold on the virtual.

And of course the fanboys are at it again..
It's a good option if you don't want an iPhone. I'm sure their open source will produce some cool apps. The OS can always be updated in the future. The G1 is ugly, but remember Android will be on other phones in the future. I'm sure someone will have come up with an "upper class" handset for Android.

Yes, giving an honest discussion is fanboyism. Why does eveyone on these forums relate not liking a non apple product as being a fanboy?

I personally do not like the UI of android (im talking purely about the OS and not the phone, because it will be a multi phone platform). It seems very confusing and the learning curve is sure to be HUGE. Also, developers are sure in for some big headaches seeing as they have to ensure their products are useable across the VAST differences in phone hardwares that this OS is going to be used on. They have to make sure it will work on both a high end phone as well as a bottom of the barrel (as low as android supports) phone. This is sure to cause some huge glitches as some point unless they announce standards that have to be met, but that sort of defeats the openness (not open source) that android has been praised for.

Not EVERYONE here is purely a fanboy kind sir. (tho i admit some responses seem to be based purely on that)

I didn't like the G1 better than the iPhone by any stretch, but the Street View while walking around is amazing. Check it out here about 2/3rds of the way through.

i do like the dropdown home menu though...looks like a great idea to steal....i mean implement (thank you open source) into an iphone firmware. Great way to hide some icons.

I did too. That was kind of a neat idea. I also think the phone keypad screen looks better then the iPhone. I always thought that looked tacky on the iPhone but I know jailbreaking can fix that.
