I have a late 2006 imac, ati x1600 intel core2 duo that has the horizontal lines issue that many have had and took it to apple.

the genius told me there was a SLIM chance it could be repaired for free and that i could bring it in and see.

after bringing it in he said that it was not covered at all.
i asked the cost to fix and he told me $585 plus an $85 labor rate.

i was really dissapointed and the entire time i was talking tech with the guy and we are getting along really great.

i asked if i could call apple and he said that in the past there have been people who have had things done for free and to give it a shot.

i explained that i WILL have it fixed based on the fact that i have had so many apple products over the years etc etc...

so he comes back after 20 minutes and tells me hes doing it for free because i would likely get the same result calling cupertino.

amazing.

i cant believe it.
wanted to share here.

apple doesnt admit these are their problems, but they fix them when you press them on it!
