I have the same issue but I'm not renovating. I can't even register a print now. Booked in with apple tomorrow!

Before anyone says it. No my hands aren't dry, I use barrier cream at work and hand cream after work.

Last year I had my fingerprints taken for the Global Entry Program and the agents told me that people over 80 or who've done a lot of hand work (including washing dishes) without gloves are pretty much unreadable - and I'm guessing their sensors are better than an iPhone's.

On the plus side, you can take up a life of crime and not get caught. ;)

ROFL

This thread has turned into something ridiculous.

OP asked if there were any suggestions since his callused fingers weren't getting a good reading. The first response is an actual recommendation. The rest (I skimmed so there may be something good in there, but overall not really) are people calling each other foolish, talking about bank accounts being "almost hacked" and other such nonsense.

Sheesh. Talk about blowing things way out of proportion.

Yep, plus about 20% of the population suffers from dry fingers, which makes it harder to optically scan prints. Coming off a dry airplane flight doesn't help, of course :)

Heh. Perhaps flight arrival corridors should have misters to re-hydrate people's skin!?

They're quite different in their method. Plus Global Entry scans more fingers at one time and compares more features.

The Global Entry sensors are high resolution optical scanners.

Their primary claim to fame is in the use of a heated glass platen to prevent condensation halos, and a silicone overlay that enhances dry fingerprints and resists fingertip sliding.

I posted earlier in the thread my coworkers Touch ID didn't work and we chalked it up to his hands getting beat up.

I quoted your post in an email and he made a genius appointment.

Thanks for the post.
[doublepost=1473759404][/doublepost]I know as soon as i have done a rough day's work with my hands that the fingerprint sensor will not work and then in a couple of days when the skin is smooth again it works. So I very much doubt that the sensor is RF at all
