Watching the movie Steve jobs The Man In The Machine. Started to notice on Steve Jobs was wearing a Watch that look just like the AppleWatch.

You do have to wonder if there was some direct inspiration there. The Apple also vaguely reminds me of the Pulsar digital watch my dad had in the 1970's (that was another watch that sported a dark blank display until you wanted to see the time).
 
I love it when OP start-date is a day of the week. Joking aside, welcome, nice find. It really does look a lot like the Apple Watch lol.
 
The watch that Jobs wore is a Seiko D03. Of course in some way or other it has to be at least part of the inspiration for the AW.

Whatever the current state of the AW design, I think this can't be ignored as a highlight among the digital watch designs of the time...
