Well if you do not own both phones, this should not bother you so much!

Sorry, but I can't change my mind on a phone due to a blogger's selfie when I have not tried it for myself. I highly doubt the ipx will have worse photos than my current 8, or my previous 6S.

No one said it did. Your being defensive. We understand you already spent your money on the beloved iphone x but the obvious comparisons here are being made to the pixel 2. No one claimed the camera was worse than the 8 or 6s

If you actually watch the video you would know the reason. He clearly stated in that portion of the video that the iphone x camera was having a hard time even detecting the surroundings and applying the blur effect which is an issue with the camera itself, not where the focus is.

If OP actually linked to video I'd actually have watched it.. I made an assumption based on the information available in the post.

There are 6 pictures posted. No video, no link to video. I did not see video and did not know video existed.

If there is an issue, ok, that would suck. Software though, so not end of world.

Is he taking pics of himself or the background? Did he touch the screen to focus or is it just on random.

This thread is nonsense. The pictures are taken using the front facing camera and aren't full resolution. I also suspect some editing/filters as some of the pictures look a little washed out. Oh yeah, and all 6 pictures are somewhat blurry -- no detail.

Guy who took the pictures is an Apple fan boy and known in the tech community... he didn’t edit anything

I don't think I've ever used the front camera since front cameras were a thing, so not bothered.

Are you kidding? I’m not picky about this sort of thing and I’m not even getting an X, but the pixel 2 pic clearly shows more detail. Look at his eyes and hair.

The pixel 2 from what I've heard over sharpens the crap out of it's front camera. IMO everything except the fake DOF effect looks better in the iPhone X. Color, contrast, exposure, hue etc.

I will agree the DOF effect is better on the Pixel 2. It seems to discern edges better in that particular scenario. Apple seems to be doing a softer "rolloff" effect that would normally work much better with a background that is closer to the subject (like inside) instead of the building way off in the distance.

The OP and this thread is a joke. The guy who wasted his time making the comparison video is a damn fool. He couldn't be bothered to even do it right.

The cameras are crap, the screen is crap. Face ID sucks and the notch is ugly as hell. If you haven’t already I would cancel your order.

My 2-3 week shipping estimate will improve if you do.

The Pixel clips the whites. Just look at the first picture. Look at the sign with 78 on it. Look at all the detail. You can see all the individual slits in the sign on the iphone pic, whereas they are blurry. Same with the numbers. Look how much detail is in 78 on the iPhone compared to the Pixel.

Um maybe that was the intent? Hes trying to show how the portrait modes compare to one another and the iphone fails to blur out the background where as the pixel does an excellent job of not only blurring out the back but detecting the borders of his hair and face perfectly where as the iphone does not.
