i just realized that my computer has a power button.

previously I had been using it as a paperweight..

Haha! :D That's got to be the FUNNIEST thing I've read in a long time. Genius. I'm cracking up while writing this ...

i see this thread has turned into a mockery of me:( this was my first laptop, so I didnt know.

Come on mate, it's just a bit of a laugh, nothing personal. Some of the comments are funny though! You'll realise soon enough that MacRumors members sure love their sarcasm ...

The battery light indicator on the battery itself. My friend just got a BlackBook the other day, was reading the manual and then pressed the button the on battery, and it light up. It blew my mind, I thought that the button was just a screw or something, and the lights were just breathing holes for the battery b4 that Lol.

I remember I pressed it on my iBook and I flipped. I thought something was going to pop out and stab me

Ha... this thread cracks me up.

Apple has been doing this for a long time... i know the Powerbook G3 and G4's had them too. I'm almost certain Dell copied Apple on that feature... Dell likes to copy Apple in case anyone has noticed.

Good thing Apple keeps making mostly original stuff. :D

Dell did copy it. When my sister got her Dell I checked it out and I saw the button on the battery and I pressed it and it did the same exact thing. Dell can't come up with their own ideas?

I saw the button and thought:

"Oh, the charge indicator button."

Now, where's the fun in that? ;)

Seriously though, I'm sure myself and many others read many extensive reviews on their future Apple laptop BEFORE buying. If they had they would've noticed most reviewers mentioning this feature and so knowing about it and anticipating its use before they got their laptop.

After all Apple products carry a price premium over their PC counterparts and you find yourself tallying up advantages in features before spending the cash:

Remote Control - Check.
Backlit Keyboard - Check.
Mac OS - Check.
Beautiful Design - Check.
Battery Charge Indicator - Check.
etc.

Well I did anyway ... :D

i didnt notice that until i saw the green lights moving as it was charging one day!
