my friend just sent me a video from his verizon phone. (dare i think.) it was horrible quality. is this something that will continue or will there be an update to the network that will allow for clearer video mms. not complaining as i dont use mms that often, just curious.

Don't know... Apple hasn't announced any plans. But it sounds like it may be here to stay for the foreseenable future because it does some serious compression (tradeoff between quality and size) to get it to a small enough size to not kill the provider's data network.

Photos looks more reasonable from what I've heard and seen.

Low quality comes from 3 points.

1. Low camera quality
2. Phone compression
3. Cell Network compression

So when it gets to you, you get a video that has been recorded on a bad camera and then beaten down with an ugly stick (or more likely compressed too much to be of any use)

thats what i thought. i am fine with the pic mms. it was just my first video so i just thought i would throw the question out there.

this is what it looks likes saved to camera roll then uploaded strait to youtube from the iphone 3gs
