All Blizzard has to do is port Wow over to the iPad with some slick touch interface for it, and you have instant success for both Blizzard and Apple.

    Mmm...

I'm not so sure, I just checked my WoW folder on my iMac. 18.42GB?

It'd be cool, but I just don't see it...

It's a phone OS, it's not going to run a full game on it. The flexibility just isn't there.

    I am all for it.

I wanted a MMORPG on the iphone, but on the iPad it is a must.

Yeah, you could play WoW for 10 minutes before the battery dies. Instant success!

I'd love to see WOW on the iPad (might even make me think of buying it), but it appears to violate the "no scripting languages" condition in the App Store, as it allows users to write their own lua addons.

Getting Apple to change their minds on this might be harder than doing the port!

What's missing that wouldn't allow for a full game?

I could see RTS games being huge on this. I would love to be able to lounge on the couch and play starcraft/command & conquer/etc.

Also, something like Diablo would seem to be a good fit.

They would have to create a client that does not allow add-ons.

I know add ons are huge for WOW, but not necessarily for every MMOG.

I don't even care if it is WoW. In fact I would prefer someone else do it. It is a great game genre though and I think client that worked on an ipad device would be awesome.

    Who needs to port WoW?

    Use OnLive perhaps...

THough if WoW went multitouch -that would be pretty darn awesome (for those ensnared by it).

lol I think Blizzard should NEVER do that.
People who already don't have lives, will have less! They won't only play it at home in their room. They'll take it everywhere with them.
I don't want to live in this kind of world.

WoW already requires too much of a REAL keyboard. Could you imagine trying to put up virtual controls?

    I don't see it happening.

I agree that we'll probably never see WoW on the iPad but I can't agree with that statement. It is quite capable as an OS and you could build just about anything on it, including a "full game".

It would be cool but I doubt it. I am not an expert programmer, but I believe that the architecture of the current iPad chip is different to that of PPC and Intel chips and hence require the whole game to be reprogrammed. This would be a long and hard process, and it would be a very niche marker (people using iPad to play WoW).

Every time I hear about WoW, Stephen Lynch's song "D&D" plays in my head.

I agree with this guy. It would take a ton of stripping and by then it wouldn't really be WoW. It would just turn into some mobile MMO that would be out of place on these devices and wouldn't really function the way it should. My .02.

It would work if you could use it for basic XP generation. They could create some mini-games in order to build your XP for the real game.

    Just a thought...

While WoW would have to be stripped down, there are also things that could be added. The keyboard interface in iWork has been customized for those applications. It should be possible to do the same for a game. The keyboard could display images for hotkeys for example. Special servers could be utilized to optimize the experience specifically for the iPad. Gestures could be used extensively.

Most people would probably still greatly prefer to use a desktop or laptop. Still, it could draw some new players in via the app store presence. It could also be superior to existing RPG apps on the iPhone. Warcraft (3), Starcraft, or Diablo would be much easier ports though and probably more successful.

    here we go trolling. 2.0

If you have kept up in the headlines Blizzard has expressed intrest in making some sort of Warcraft game for the iPhone though it being wow or not is uncertain.

    Let me more clear...

There will be no WoW on the iPad. To hope so represents a completely unrealistic expectation.
