I haven't been able to play WoW after upgrading to Yosemite.

First, it refused to connect to servers. Then I decided to remove the whole WoW-installation and install a fresh game. Easier said than done.

When opening the installer, it immediately says I can't open the application.

What now? My first guess is that Blizzard didn't upgrade the installer

Blizzard had some login and connectivity issues lately with WoW, so you might saw that.

However, if you're about to completely reinstall the game, you'll be better if you remove the /Users/shared/Battle.net and /Users/shared/Blizzard folders first. There maybe remains of earlier incomplete patches there that cause the issues.

Close blizzard launch.exe and Agent.exe in background program and try again?

Yeah, I read about those connection issues. It doesn't seem to be the problem here, though.

I have deleted the Blizzard folders, but it made no difference.

    ----------

.exe files doesn't ring a bell on my Mac. After a restart there shouldn't be any background programs running at all (?)

I had the same issues. I read on Steam forums that it might have something to do with memory allocation. The point is that this is not a WoW only issue. It's a gaming issue.

I used my Time Machine backup to revert back to Mavericks. I'll go back to Yosemite when it's no longer in beta :p

This sounds like a configuration issue of some kind which isn't to say the upgrade to Yosemite isn't playing a role in it. I say this because WoW is running fine on Yosemite on my iMac. I am not having problems connecting and I am also not seeing the FPS issues people are reporting in the WoW support forum. That latter issue I think I saw a blue post about indicating they are looking into it.

I'd recommending heading over there, to the Blizzard Mac WoW tech forum on the official forums and making a post detailing exactly what is happening in your situation - the more clear, specific details the better including your complete system configuration. You could also file a ticket with support while you are at it.

I had the FPS stuttering issue. Blizzard are aware of it and are working on a fix, but for now this fixed it for me -

    /console setmaxfps 30

not ideal but makes it playable once again until they fix it properly

Thanks I'll have to try that. Apparently I'm getting a constant 70fps but it is definitely very jerky.

A couple of people suggested turning on the movie recorder and I can verify that that has worked for me. At the lowest resolution it uses about 7 GB/hour.

6.X is pretty much broken on OSX and it killed the performance by a significant margin (20-70% slower based on situations). The only good alternative for the moment is to play it in windows with bootcamp.

Did you already have vsync on before trying that? I was just curious because I have it turned on where I was getting tearing at high frame rates, especially when flying. It has been running fine for me as I mentioned above with settings at ultra and 1440p resolution.

I am not denying there is some legitimate problem at all but just noting that it isn't universal for some reason.

I get the issue regardless of whether vsync is off or on.
