I think its a very practical and reasonable philosophy for mac buyers too.

Only thing is with a PC, you can basically frankenstein your computer with upgrades. With my PC I added in a new processor, way more Ram, new video card, added some PCI cards for Firewire, wi-fi, etc. It was only when I needed to change the mobo socket that I stopped. So I spend a few hundred bucks here and there and now I have a computer that vastly out performs it's first life. So unless you NEED the fastest PC out there for gaming or whatever, timing your buying isn't as important with a PC since you can always chuck some new pieces in later to spruce it up.
