Scanning my system takes about 5 seconds! Matching for updates is even less! The entire process went from about 30 seconds to maybe 5. Wow!

No, the time needed to look up the versions of all your software is a function of disk and OS performance. Something has changed in the way OSX is gathering directory information that has helped out AppFresh.
