Writing lead-out stop

Dear all, having an issue with burning DVD's on my iMac 17" Duo Core Intell.
My internal burner is defect so I bought an LaCie external burner. When burning with Toast 9 it hangs at the end at "Writing Lead-out" and freezes. I have to abort and disc is unusable. Any ideas. LaCie is connected to USB2, with 2 USB cables, no power supply. Please advise. Thanks in advance, Lisboa.
