    Hi,

I've tried to MRoogle, google and search Apple discussions for the incorrect reporting of free space on my SSD. I have a Intel 330 series SSD (120 g) installed (with the SATA 1.5 link speed bug) and running Mountain Lion.

The dekstop hard-drive icon displays that I have 114 gigs free, but the disk utility says that I have 59 gigs free. I was wondering why is there a large discrepancy?

    I also have TRIM enabled.

It's just a bug, I think it has to do with flash storage that is on ssd, because my flash drives do the same thing. Nothing to worry about, at least that I know of

Btw, my flash drives all said about half as much as it really is, like your ssd

I've had this a few times, quite often it sorts itself out after a while

It has nothing to do with your SSD. It has to do with local TimeMachine backups. OSX will automatically delete these backups when space is needed, however if it bothers you can turn it off.
