I have 2 partitions. 1 Leopard, 1 Tiger. The Tiger partition has an older version of quicktime.

While in Leopard if I open an avi file, it always wants to open with the older version of quicktime on the other partition, NOT the quicktime in the applications folder.

I've done the get info > always open with, change all thing but it just doesn't work.

I don't even want the older version of quicktime listed in the open with applications. How can I fix this?

You need to compare the codecs in both Leopard and Tiger for Quicktime. They are located in /Library/Quicktime folder on both OSes.

Chances are you are missing the codecs for AVI on the Leopard side.
