Well you're the perfect Apple customer then aren't you? Apple doesn't have to compete on price if you're the customer.

Apple business model make it so that they won’t never compete on price they way you would like them too. They never did and never will. They sell simple to use, luxury items. Nobody buys Prada, Rolex, Mercedes, Gucci, Cartier, Versace etc. expecting a good price, if they are price sensitive they just go for other brands, the same is true for Apple, even if for some reason many Apple expect them to change business model instead of just buying brands that fit their budget or taste. I have a very nice Samsung LED TV, when I bought it there was a Sony TV whose design I liked more than the Samsung, but it was quite more expensive and I didn’t want to spend that much money on a TV. I bought the Samsung. That’s how the world works.

Spotify’s discover weekly playlist is one of the few things I look forward to on Mondays. Their curated playlists are way better than Apples.

You like them more, they are no “way better”. That’s why other people like more the Apple Music ones. Personally I always have found Spotify playlists very generic and mainstream for my needs.

Which do you prefer personally?

Oh man. Rip for sure. Rdio was the best. Absolutely loved it

I use Spotify for playlists as I feel it’s best for that. For storing a library of music (ie like the iPod classic days) I prefer Apple Music. If I had to pick, it would be Apple Music but that’s because I tend to listen to whole albums more than playlists.

Also offline is a great experience on Apple Music. I have lots of black spots on the train to work so prefer to have music downloaded.

I'm never going back to Spotify. My account got hacked last year and customer support had no idea how it even happened. They just reset my password and even tried blaming it on me, saying that maybe I saved it on an unsecure service. Lousy security. If you have a Spotify account, make sure you have a separate password for it.

Man.. Apple revolutionised the music industry with iTunes (which was a necessity for the success of iPods) and the next big step was brought on by Spotify. Let's not forget that and also keep in mind how everything that has came out from Apple lately on software (and partially on hardware) side has been a copy (or at most a minor improvement) of something existing with primary focus on racking in more and more in monthly fees.

Apple Music is Apple's best service, miles better than anything else (well most of them are not even live yet...) and that is partly due to the massive ground work and tough competition that Spotify have accomplished.

Sorry ... iCloud is Apple's BEST service!
- just about everything we do using OSX/iOS/TVOS or iTunes is tied to iCloud.

Also Spotify is NOT the revolution for streaming music nor were they the first. They maybe, arguably for some, the BEST at it but definitely not the first.

As with any business, it doesn't really matter who was first, as much as it matters who the last man standing will be.

Spotify was just as revolutionary as it iTunes was once. No, it wasn't first, nor is it best at everything but its impact is undeniably huge and paved the way for Tidal, Apple Music and Google Music. Did it take ideas from last.fm, Pandora, iTunes, soundcloud, grooveshark etc? Yes, but that's just how it works. Let me ask you, if not Spotify then who?

I am split on iCloud. It is clearly NOT meant to be a primary interface for users but rather an infrastructure/backend for all the services/apps utilizing it. It is well integrated and accessible for the developers but at the some times confusing and annoying. What is synced, what's not. How can I delete stuff permanently? Why is my storage full. I have apps not syncing and you never know when something is still on some device. But maybe I am too stupid for it.

I would actually counter that iMessage is their best service, but just like the free tier of iCloud it doesn't bring direct income.

I disagree. IF it's about who the last man standing will be:
1 house and condo maker globally
1 car manufacturer globally.
etc.

It's about who makes the best products first. If you recall Jobs went ballistic about Apple Mac OS being first yet was late to the market and lost that epic lawsuit. Here we are today enjoying OSX - rebranded macOS for no damn reason other than wordly esthestics - "what's in a name?"

I say it's about who commands the mindshare and repeated sales of existing and growing customers (consumer/corporate) that matters. I didn't start the conversation of who's first ... just corrected someone that stated so. No need to call me out on 'it doesn't matter who's first' ; look at your quote in context to the conversation it's used in please. ;) cheers.

That's still a paid customer... it's not like Apple is giving these accounts to verizon for free. I'm sure Verizon is covering the fee, they might have an agreement that makes it cheaper but still paid nevertheless

That's great for Apple but I still prefer spotify in every way, plus I am currently getting Spotify, hulu and showtime for $5.99 a month total... Can't beat that.
how to get that $6 package? thanks
