Not sure if this is just me. iTunes 7.0 won't recognise my 2nd gen iPod. It says it can't read the information on it so I should select its preferences and 'restore factory settings'. But, of course, I can't select its preferences, 'cause it won't recognise it, will it now. Bastardo. Any other 2nd gen users afflicted? Can I restore the ipod without iTunes in the new setup?
My 20GByte 2nd Gen iPod is working with iTunes7 OK. Haven't used it for a while - seems as big as a house brick now. It shows up in the preferences as having S/W V1.5 on it.
Chuckle. Yes that certainly was the FATTEST ipod ever built. Ah, the good old days. Mines a 10GB & working fine except its an iTunes 7.0 reject. Just lives in the bedroom with some soundsticks, so I don't want to replace it. Anyone else having trouble / have a solution?
Is it showing up on the desktop? Can't you just run a standalone updater? I'm sure they won't be releasing standalone updaters anymore, but since there are almost certainly not going to be anymore firmware releases for the 2G iPods, you should be able to just keep one around in case you need to restore.
Yes, it shows up on the desktop. I thought about the standalone update, but unfortunately they do not exist any more. They vanished, and now the updater page points you to iTunes 7.0. Any thoughts?
WHAT!!! I have a First Generation 5GB iPod....will this not work with iTunes 7.0. I'm not home right now so I can't check and I've already downloaded itunes 7.0. Let me know. Thanks
This happened to my 4G but before I updated.....remove the ipod and restart your computer then start it up again and see what happens because my 4G is fine now. Bless
Ahh, success with the ipod-updater. So thats the lesson for any others out there with issues. Thanks.
