Man this is pissing me off as of lately. I love my IPHONE and had all three since the beginning. But anytime my calls stay longer than 20 minutes they eventually get dropped. This is pissing me off as of lately because I'm having a issue with Directv and American Express and get into this deep conversation and get dropped and then I have to start all over and explain myself over again. Then the damn samething happens again!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

    rant over/

By the way, I'm not moving either. I've been sitting on my computer chair and on the computer while on these calls.

Sounds like a carrier problem more than the phone itself.

    Complaining about dropped calls?

I'm gonna go WAY out on a limb and guess AT&T.

Are you on 3G? I sometimes find I'll be in a place with a 'good-enough' 3G signal so the phone uses it, even though it's not great and will eventually cause a problem.

It's possible that if you manually switch to EDGE, however, you'll have less trouble with calls.

You can drop a call when it switches from 3G to EDGE and then back again. Force it to use EDGE and you eliminate that one problem, at least.

Heh and just think, at+t has a tv ad mocking verizon network’s inability to talk and surf the net simultaneously, while at+t’s can’t even allow one to talk :D:eek:

Are you sure about that? I can use my moto Q for hours and don't get disconnected on at+t...

Both my 3G's (got it exchanged for a different reason) have trouble with >20 minutes call over 3G as well (and this is at home with full 3G bars). I'm with Rogers in Canada though. Switching to EDGE, I pretty much never get dropped calls, longest call being ~2 hours.

If you're getting dropped calls I'd recommend going to EDGE.

Not nearly as many as American carriers do. I went traveling around Europe for a month and didn't drop one single call.

That's the problem. On paper, AT&T's network uses better technology than Verizon. However we all know what happens on paper is different than real world application. Even communism looks good on paper.

I had my 3Gs swapped out by Apple a few months back, it would drop a call nearly 15 minutes into any conversation regardless of where i was at. At first I blamed AT&T until the phone started rebooting at this same point into every conversation.

I'd take the phone to an Apple store and have it swapped out.. couldn't hurt, right?

It is possible that it was a disconnect on the other end. Either accidentally or by a nasty customer rep who jus twants to get rid of you. :)

That said, try to get a name and direct number when on a long CS call. And make sure they have your number and ask them to call you back if you get disconnected.

Unless your calls dropped because the phone only gets a 20 minute charge I am opting to say it's a carrier problem, which sounds like you might be on AT&T.

I regularly talk for one to two hours without my call dropping.
