Because some of us use VPN to connect to our networks and since the touch is an internet device, it ensures compatibility with the networks we use!

Ah, so you can connect to your network at home on the go?
I had this crazy idea of VPN, you can connect to any router, encrypted or not, but you iPT send the ip address of you designated router, and the info travels through that.
End effect would be internet anywhere that gets billed to the correct router/phoneline

If you need to access information stored on a remote secured local network then a VPN is the best way to go about it. Once connected to a VPN server on a network your communications are tunnelled via it over the Internet. It's just like being physically connected to the network by a cable. Great for accessing pages, mailboxes or shares that wouldn't otherwise be accessible over the Internet.
