Are these people actually scalpers or are they simply taking a space in line for someone, an individual, who is going to legitimately pay for and use the new iPhone? There IS a difference between those who are sitting in line only to buy up two phones with provided cash and immediately hand them over to someone else for resale in another country or for some other use (i.e., "scalpers" and their temporary hires) and those who are sitting in line to hold a position for someone who is actually a legitimate purchaser..... I know there is some service called "Task Rabbit" which does all sorts of everyday, menial tasks for people, which presumably could include waiting in a line for them...... ??
Personally, I would not have a problem with the "Task Rabbit" type of employees since presumably in the end the product(s) for which they are sitting and waiting is going to be going to someone, an individual or couple who will actually be using them.... I DO have a problem with "scalpers" who hire people (often it looks like right off the streets!) to sit in line who then dutifully make the purchase with provided cash and immediately hand the purchased item(s) off and then get back in line for another two iPhones, which will again be paid for in cash and handed off...... I just feel that this whole scalper scenario is just not right. If there were some way that Apple could figure out how to prevent/remove those line-sitters who are clearly there to serve scalpers, that would certainly do everyone a huge favor!
