Please please please tell me that this is not true. I went to download The Elements for the iPhone for $10 and then saw that it was $13 for the iPad version.

I was under the impression that when you download an app for the iPhone, it automatically worked on the iPad. I can see it not working the otherway around but damn, this sucks if true.

I'm about to purchase a few apps that are pricey and told myself that I could transfer them to my iPad 2.0 in the future, is this not possible? Are there really multiple versions for the different IOS devices. Am I really expected to download them and pay for them again??

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

It depends all on what the developer chooses to do. If its a universal app, it will work on both systems. If it does not say universal then it has separate iphone and iPad versions.

If the application is the same on both platforms IMO the developer should make the app universal, but sometimes there is a lot of extra work that go into the iPad version which is why the apps are separate and cost different.

Well that's rather depressing to hear. So if I download the app for $10 now, I'll have to download it again for $13 down the road? It just seems so ridiculous.

How about this. Can I use the $10 app on the iPad and it'll just have the features the iPhone one has?

Eh...kind of. It will be scaled up to fit the iPad screen and won't look so nice. Also, it will be at the center of the screen and ergonomic to hold on the iPad

You can see if it's a universal app when purchasing as there will be a plus symbol next to the price. Never assume you're getting two products for the price of one!
