WTF - why was my AT&T symbol 'AT&T'

So I'm on my commute home and my iPhone 3G starts to lag pretty bad, so I turn it off then back on. Well, to my surprise my AT&T symbol was shown as 'AT&T' with the little inner quotes. It stayed that way for about 15 minutes and then just switched back! Also, my two email accounts had magically become empty and had to redownload all my emails (up to 100). WTF?! Anyone ever have this before?

Seriously. Why do people try to describe what happened on their screen without posting a screen shot? It literally takes one second to capture. Then just e-mail it to your photobucket, direct link it to macrumors.

Dude, I was in an exhausted stupor and forgot. Next time I'll be sure to do so.
 
So this happened to me and I looked for this thread. I rebooted my iPhone, but before that I took a screen shot since people were asking
