Wunderground shuts down when I try to animate

Actually it would be more accurate to say Safari shuts down when I try to animate the radar on Wunderground.
 
Probably JavaScript

Sounds like the problem I reported in the troubleshooting forum; if so, disabling JavaScript will keep it from shutting down, but JavaScript is probably needed for the animation, so you probably won't be gaining much.
