Streaming quality is crap! Any way to download anyhwere yet?

Great, I wait all freaking day for this and it's still not up as a podcast or a download (that I can find) so I can't watch it on my AppleTV. Trying to watch the stream on my Mac but it is unbelievably bad (it blurs, skips, stops). No, my connection is not that slow...and yeah, I know everyone is trying to watch it the same time but a slow download would be better than this. Aaaaargh! /b*tching

I was all geared and ready, bed-check, girlfriend-check, keynote-check.
But the connection here for too laggy while i have 20mbit/sec  :(

Anyway, it's morning here now..just woke up and NOW i will FINALLY see the whole thign!!! MWUWHAHAHAHA *evil dr-evil laugh :D

I always have this issue with the keynote stream. I don't know it can't cache or they don't offer a download or Podcast straight away. Maaaan. Oh well.

Yeah, I have always had some problems with the stream as well (though never as bad as this time) and usually opted for the download or podcast. My recollection is that it was available right after the stream - at least within a couple hours. Kind of funny that iTunes lists "Apple Keynotes" as the top podcast right now. I highly doubt that everyone is watching the old Keynotes all of a sudden.

Seems to work better on VLC everyone having lag problems. I mean it got through the first minute without a hang so worth a try.

EDIT: See below, this technique kept restarting itself.

Argh this is annoying.

Not working for me through opening the link or going to Quicktime and pasting the URL. This happens for me every keynote, and I'm not sure what the problem is.

Let's hope the podcast goes up soon, even though I was up reading the liveblogs.

LINK

VLC kept starting again. Currently watching this link on RealPLayer. So far so good.

Nope sorry it still doesn't work for me.
Gives me "Disconnected" when it opens.

Open in Realplayer, not quicktime.

I've been watching over half an hour, no problem.

Copy URL by clicking right mouse or shift-click

Downloaded RealPlayer, doesn't work whether I copy or click the link.

Are you on a mac?

This is the link.. via open location.. worked for me, just retested it.

the link contains no 'spaces' i've put one in so it won't break the forum.

Yep aluminium iMac.

Copied and pasted into realplayer and got rid of the space, still gave me 'disconnected'.

Not sure then.

My exact steps were to take the original quicktime stream from the rumor free page, paste it into VLC. Then looking at the playlist it gave me the direct files that the stream references (and is shifting between, i'm guessing).. I used 'media information' to copy the address... i used this in safari and it opened it automatically in RealPlayer.

I used RealPlayer 11. Also VLC might work better than quicktime so try that.

I watched the keynote at about 6 pm yesterday. I didn't get the stupid macrumors email notice till 5am. I won't be counting on mac rumors again for that. A few hours later is lame but warned... 5am is freaking ridicules. Whats the point?

I can't speak for MacRumors, but I am sure it is not their fault... I got mine yesterday at 7:45 PM (central), about two hours after the feed went live.

Remember that MacRumors has to e-mail out (I would guess) thousands of these e-mails, and this takes time, even for a computer.

Also remember that they might have sent it out earlier but it may have gotten slowed down... sometimes people will e-mail me and it is in my inbox instantly, but sometimes it takes a few minutes or even hours sometimes... it is just the way the internet works.

You CAN download in iTunes already.

....but the WWDC 2009 keynote is not there yet. The stream is playing back fine for me now, however.

Go ahead and subscribe to that one (the link above) and it will download. Once subscribed it's available. I found this out since I was already subscribed and happened to look into that group in "Podcasts" in iTunes... There it was...

Just tested on a machine that has fresh OS, first run of iTunes... Subscribed and it started downloading right away.

It is a smaller rez than the HD stream, however. But with the HD stream pixelating, it's probably actually about the same quality. I do wish they would put in a true HD version in the podcasts, though.

Now I can watch it on the Apple TV. WooHoo. :)
