Being a developers conference, wouldn't an updated Mac mini make sense to be announced at WWDC?

It's a bit funny when you think about it. Even at 799$USD, it would mean you could buy two Macs for the price of one WWDC ticket.

There's really nothing funny about it. The people that pay that type of money aren't there as spectators, they are developers running a software business and they see that amount of money they spend for a WWDC ticket as chump change and is going to be a tax write-off anyway.

Dear Developer,

Thank you for registering for the random selection process to attend WWDC 2014.

Unfortunately, you were not selected to purchase a ticket. However, you can still take advantage of great WWDC content. We'll be posting session videos, slides, and sample code throughout the week for all Registered Apple Developers.

We appreciate your support.

Best regards,
Apple Developer Program Support

Did you receive this? I havent received anything so far which I assume means I didn't get accepted to give them a bunch of money.

I wonder what will happen if someone doesn't buy by the end date. Seems they need to choose someone else. Wonder how long those will get. If they don't buy wonder if someone else gets a chance. Could run out of time before the conference.

yes, I received it

What if people that won the lottery DON'T buy tickets?
I know that will be a small amount but what happens to those slots?

No WWDC For Me

No WWDC for me this year. Again. As always. I guess I'm neither fast enough, nor luckily enough.

"Unfortunately..."

Just got my "Unfortunately..." email. After missing out for the third year running, I'm really getting a little tired of the whole process. Feeling very anti-Apple... for the first time ever!

I think Apple is notifying the "winners" first. Who seem to be connected to CIO type jobs..Hand picked by Apple in other words.

The rest of use will get the "we're sorry" Email later on.

I can confirm Apple is notifying common developers. I'm neither a CIO nor hand picked by Apple.

This will be my first WWDC and am pretty pumped up. I thought for sure I wouldn't have even been selected.

For anyone that won can you tell us if there is anything in your member center/account profile that shows you won?

This system seems much fairer than years past where the person with the fastest Internet connection and the coolest boss who let them off work for a few minutes in the middle of the day got to go. But I can't help but wonder about huge contributing developers to Apple's success. Of course, companies like EA, Gameloft, etc. will be invited, but what of successful indie devs who are trying to get out of the startup phase and make a name for themselves? Moreover, what about MacRumors? Apple doesn't really take kindly to speculative rumor mills, so MR wouldn't be invited. They'd have to enroll in the lottery as a no-name with all the others. But if they don't get selected... Hmmm.

I'm part of the developer program... My manager isn't. He wouldn't authorize my request unless he was guaranteed a ticket, and if he won and I didn't then it'd be a waste of $1600.

I didn't want him to go with me so I didn't sign up. :D More fool me, huh?

Journos would be treated as part of a different pool of attendees.

And there's GDC for developers trying to break out.
