Some of the apps in the image above don't follow the 'rectangular' shape of iOS icons. Or are some of these actually OS X apps? If not it looks like the app icons are going to be different shapes like on OS X :D

^^ I agree. I don't think disguising new features into their invite was a priority.

And his post was just an idea, a "hey, i wonder if"... Pretty sure he didn't spend an hour staring at it. Some of you are so easy to snip at ppl for the tiniest things...

Wasn't the tagline on the invites for WWDC "Join us for a preview of the future of iOS and OSX"? Meaning that the round icons are probably for OSX. I hope they keep the square icons on iOS as a requirement, it makes the OS look more uniform and polished.

I just hope that iOS 5 is well defined and that the notification system is revamped. I could care less about the rumored widgets function but it would be a nice touch.

Some icons nearer the bottom only appear rectangular because of the optical illusion caused by the "app wave" curving towards the screen at the bottom.

That's all.

Nah,
I want iOS 5 to have widgets. The lockscreen is a big waste of screen real-estate to just have a clock there.

I believe Apple intends to discuss OS X Lion and iOS5. Some recent articles about the invite specify that Apple press folks mention both Mac OS and iOS. The timing certainly makes a lot of sense..
