A good start
I'd also like simultaneous audio.

I hate how my PiP video streaming gets stopped by some random auto-play audio on a website or in an App.
Absolutely. It’s happened to me four or five times in the last two hours. We at least need some sort of control to set certain apps as not allowed to interrupt the playback of another app.

Pretty underwhelming list of features. Maybe this is all they have ready to ship…

WWDC 2025 is just two weeks away as of today, with Apple's opening keynote scheduled for Monday, June 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time.

During the keynote, Apple is expected to announce iOS 19, iPadOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, tvOS 19, visionOS 3, and other software updates, along with new Apple Intelligence features. In some years, there are also hardware announcements at WWDC, but there are no rumors yet about new devices being on deck for this year's conference.

Below, we recap key iOS 19 rumors to know about as the developer conference nears.

The first beta of iOS 19 should be seeded to developers immediately after the WWDC keynote, and the update is expected to be released in September.

New Design With Floating Tab Bar

iOS 19 is expected to introduce a new design that looks more like the visionOS operating system on the Apple Vision Pro headset.

According to Front Page Tech's Jon Prosser, iOS 19 will have a glass-like appearance, with added translucency for menus, buttons, and more. He also expects a new floating tab bar to be shown at the bottom of some of Apple's built-in apps.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman also expects iOS 19 to have a visionOS-like design, and he said the design changes would be the biggest since iOS 7.

The design changes should extend to iPadOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, and tvOS 19.

Stage Manager for iPhones

In April, a leaker known as Majin Bu claimed that iOS 19 will enable support for at least a limited version of Stage Manager on iPhone models with a USB-C port.

In a blog post citing sources, the leaker said that when an iPhone with a USB-C port is connected to an external display, users will be able to take advantage of a Stage Manager-like interface with multiple apps open at once on the screen. However, he said that there might be more limitations compared to Stage Manager on iPads.

iPhone models with a USB-C port include all iPhone 15 models and newer.

iPhones with both Lightning and USB-C ports can already be connected to external displays, but only for basic screen mirroring.

New Battery Mode

iOS 19 will include a new AI-powered battery management mode for all iPhone models that are compatible with the software update, according to Gurman. He said this enhancement will "analyze how a person uses their device and make adjustments to conserve energy," paving the way for longer battery life.

End-to-End Encryption for RCS

In March, Apple said that it plans to add support for end-to-end encrypted RCS messages to the Messages app in future iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS software updates. That likely means iOS 19, macOS 16, and other corresponding updates.

RCS-Feature-1.jpg

Apple promising end-to-end encryption for RCS messages indirectly confirms that it will be adopting the RCS Universal Profile 3.0 specification, which also includes several iMessage-like enhancements that were originally introduced in version 2.7 of the specification. iOS 18 supports RCS Universal Profile 2.4.

Here are five new capabilities to expect for RCS conversations on iOS 19:

  • End-to-end encryption, which will prevent Apple and any other third party from being able to read messages and attachments while they are being sent between devices
  • In-line replies
  • Edit messages
  • Unsend messages
  • Full-fledged Tapback support for RCS messages, ensuring they always work
iMessage conversations with blue bubbles have supported end-to-end encryption by default since iOS 5. In addition, iMessage has supported in-line replies since iOS 14, while the options to edit and unsend iMessages were introduced with iOS 16.

Apple has not indicated which iOS version will upgrade RCS, but iOS 19 or a follow-up update like iOS 19.1 or iOS 19.2 seems like a safe bet.

New Accessibility Features

Earlier this month, Apple previewed new accessibility features that are expected to debut across iOS 19 and other software updates.

What a joke that we are still using RCS 2.4 and don't even have 2.7 to hold us over until 3.0 is released.

For some reason, something tells me that 3.0 won't be implemented fully with all its features.

Boy oh boy, I can’t wait to have all the features promised for the 16 to be watered down…. unleeesss you have the brand new best iPhone yyyeeett, with 12GB of RAM and lightning fast AI capabilities not available on any other iPhone. We are sure you’re going to love it….🙄

I'd be content with

"Zero new features"

And just the stuff that's supposed to work actually working. But they don't have the balls to do that anymore because their shares will tank.

The best rumour that there could have been listed is that they were clearing house with the majority of it's current software department and bringing in qualified folks who are much more adept at it.

Should be interesting to see what's released, or not released, at the WWDC

OMG Dex like capabilities on iPhone? I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. I wonder if this means iOS apps will change aspect ratio.

The list of prior year unsolved bugs will be longer because this years unsolved bugs will be added to the ever bigger back log of unresolved issues. We, the customers will have to figure out work arounds as the chipmunks in programing are consumed with creating more troublesome issues for the customer base. Wow! See the new wiggly useless object on the boot screen. Now drop $1,800 and get your copy, too!

The sucker punch this year is the 12GB of memory because next year it will take 16GB of memory to actually run AI just like on the Macs and iPads. Last year's sucker punch was we need an iPhone 16 series to run AI. Then as no surprise, AI was not ready and Siri was dumber and less useful than ever before. The outright advertising lies really tarnished Apple's image forever. We desperately need a mechanical external switch we can throw that does actually turn off AI as I do not trust an electronic digital slide switch to actually do anything.

Agent Orange did not get around to doing much but lining his own pocket, so a business person running one of the world's largest successful business has other things to do than lick his boots. Agent Orange's feelings were hurt so slaps what is an openly non-economically necessary penalty as a warning to others that the grifter wants a constant cash flow and adoration for his destruction of the lives on the majority of our population. But he got his golden air palace that will cost more to debug and retrofit than the two units Boeing is currently working on that are designed from the ground up to support all of the stuff a Presidential airborne central command needs with secret protective gear.

On a positive note, I bought a build to order M4 Mac Book Air 32GB 2TB SSD and it was built in Vietnam instead of China. It was out the factory door quickly and got here in less than a week. It will be our battle spare computer in case one of our M4 Max MacBook Pros crap out and can not be replaced due to political interference in the world.

I wonder how long until there are toilets for sale "with AI!" 💩

Not long, any day now they'll sign a partnership with a startup in the Netherlands, given the totally normal national obsession with built-in 'poop shelves' in their toilet bowls.

Yeah. This is all very underwhelming. For the first time since iPhone 12, I’m seriously considering jumping ship back to pixel or Samsung.

I am truly enthusiastic about the new Accessibility features! There are several that I frequently use every day:
  • Live Caption (ideal for phone calls) and
  • Vehicle Motion Cues.
I hope Apple will do a serious revamping of the UI... this one is still a nightmare "Select All Delete" (screenshot below). The greater issue here is that the blue text on the white background should've never been a "button". iOS 7's crappy design still haunts us.

Honestly, UIKit never fully recovered from the introduction of iOS 7. Not to forget, though, iOS 11 (with the navigation bar overhaul) and iOS 13 (with dark mode and the scene delegate mechanism) have their own share in the offspring of visual inconsistencies. It‘s obvious that there is no more stakeholder with a holistic approach on the team.
