So I am gearing up for my first ever WWDC, I am beyond excited and can't wait to get out there and meet some super smart folks and learning a lot. I was wondering if anyone is going or has gone in the past and what to bring with me?

I have an iPad Air and an iPhone 5S, but I was considering buying an iPod Touch so I can use that for the iOS 8 beta, just so I don't potentially have an issue with my main phone. I didn't realize the current iPod Touch is only an A5 processor, so I am a little concerned about that. Obviously, I'll be bringing my development laptop as well.

I have heard to get into the keynote, you need to be there super early - 4am I heard?

Anyways, does anyone have any recommendations or just general information of what to expect?

    Less lost in L.A.
There have been plenty if blog entries on the topic. A net search even found a thread on this site from 2012.

I haven't been to WWDC but some basics...

Get your badge on the weekend.

    Have your devices charged.

Bring a spare drive for the new Mac OS.

Look for the party lists and sign up immediately if interested in particular ones. Your already late.

As you mentioned it is best to have an iOS device dedicated for the iOS. Unless your getting a discount on an iPod touch, I'd hold off the purchase until you know the hardware requirements if iOS 8. You know, just in case Apple doesn't support it.

And yes, the line to help you get into the main keynote room starts early.

If you haven't yet done it, book a room.

    Good luck and have fun!

To add to the above I would go to the 2nd Apple keynote. We all know the first one. The one the public see and is all flashy and on the Apple website.

But . . . the 2nd main one is called "State of the Union" or similar. I watched it via stream last year. And that is the keynote you want to be at. It's everything new the new hardware and OS (the first keynote talked about) but directed at developers. It goes through why you as developers should stay with the OS X and iOS platforms and ways the new software can make your lives as developers easier.

I would also be taking notes at this "State of the Union" keynote. I have zero idea why it's called this. But you want to be there. (I would go as far to say you need to either be there in person or watch it later via the app or online)

Also I would be looking at the WWDC app and working out now which keynotes you need to be at. And plan your day around them. Also work out when you can fit in 1 to 1 help with an Apple Dev to get your development questions answered for your own Apps. Also allow yourself time to que for the keynotes you need to be at and a few minutes to walk from one to another.

From what I've heard, it's very full on and you don't want to miss out on anything.

And lastly anything keynotes you miss you can watch them online once you get home. (That was the case last year and I am not sure it will happen again, best to make sure on this).

Anyone else from MR going to WWDC? Sunday evening might be a good time to meet. Tuesday evening might be a good as well.

I've never been to WWDC or SF so someone familiar with the area could pick a place.

This will be my first WWDC as well. I should be arriving in SF around noon today and would love to do a MR meetup.
