I'm switching from my old Linux based computer to a Mac Mini this year. So far I've found MacOS versions or replacements for all my apps except for BlueGriffon which was a WYSIWYG Web Editor. It was simple, easy to use, and best of all it was free. I've looked for WYSIWYG style web editors for MacOS and all I can find are professional apps that require subscriptions (Dreamweaver, Pinegrow, etc.) or free editors that are basically an over glorified notepad without any kind of preview.

Am I missing something or are there truly no free or one time cost WYSIWYG web editors for MacOS? I'd just continue using BlueGriffon but I don't think it ever supported M series Macs since support for it ended 2017. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The last version for macOS was 3.1 released on 14 October 2019, Intel only. You can still download it from http://bluegriffon.org/freshmeat/3.1/bluegriffon-3.1.mac-x86_64.dmg but it doesn’t appear to be working in macOS 15.7.4 (Apple silicon)

You could continue to use BlueGriffon for Linux in a virtual machine.

RapidWeaver looks like it's drag and drop different elements into a document to make a fancy website which isn't what I'm going for while Whisk looks like you have to edit the code itself so not WYSIWYG editing. Surely BlueGriffon wasn't anything unique right?

I suppose I could run BlueGriffon in a VM but that seems like a bit of a pain to do. At that point I might as well just do all my editing on my old PC rather than bothering with the Mac. 🙂

Maybe get the Windows version and run it under WINE.

If it works, WineBottler will put it into a Mac app bundle.

Source is available and it built under 10.12 so a lot of the pieces are there so in theory you could rebuild/port BlueGriffon to the latest macOS...

Have you looked at Nicepage? Available as a one-time license in addition to subscription. I used it some years ago and it did what I needed. However, I am neither a designer nor a web professional so I am the best person to review/evaluate it.

Wish I had that kind of talent but rebuilding software to work with Apple silicon is beyond my skills.

Nicepage seems more like a webpage builder rather than an editor. I jagger my website built already, I just need to edit pages and add some new ones.

Sitely is fun, the old iWeb on steroids.
And of course, while not full WYSIWYG, Framer is really nice.

i have no idea what you are looking for but bluegriffon has not been updated in 9 years. Maybe Sandvox?
