Why would anyone pay for Trump Signed Bibles for $1000, Gold Painted Sneakers, Perfume, Ties, Hats, Coins, Posters, Desecrated US Flags, Books, CD... It's their money, they can do whatever they want with it... If MAGA People and non MAGA people want to pay, so be it. It's their money. I think it's incredibly stupid, then again they think I'm stupid so it's best I avoid them. No X for me they can stay there.
Agreed. That's a HORRIBLE look for him and I've always thought it's pretty gross how he tries to market everything like that.

I just don't know where you folks are seeing this. I cannot tell you how many people or groups I follow and information and "breaking news" types of events are precisely why I follow them.

If the legacy media would simply do their jobs and present all the information in a non-biased, non-partisan, objective manner, and not bury things that don't fit with "the message", you'd see a lot of social media sites lose their subscribers and users.

I had spent some time to curate my Twitter follows, but I had a phone number attached. And when Musk decided SMS two factor is a premium feature, that locked me out of my account. Couldn't even log in to activate and pay for it if I wanted to. Another great, well thought out technical change since the acquisition.

So now I've started over with a dummy account because the site is purposely completely broken if you're not logged in somehow.

As for the news, you nailed it. The "news" just became a Twitter client some time around 2012ish anyway. At this point it's just the serpent eating its own tail.

I feel like anyone who has paid $1000 for a signed copy of the Bible signed by anyone except Jesus Christ or Moses has completely missed the point of the Bible

This has not been my experience. I mostly keep to retro computing and local weather, and that's all I ever see on my feed. Staying out of politics has kept politics away from me.
Your limited experience doesn’t speak for the majority. He’s absolutely right. It’s a cesspool of tech bros, hatred, and trolling to oppress anyone that is “weak” in their narcissistic minds. Sure there is plenty of corners you can get away from it but Elon uses the platform for his own propaganda. That much is extremely obvious.

Imagine paying $264/year for the privilege of having a blue checkmark next to your name on a soon-to-be dying social media platform.

Or, you know, a month's worth of groceries.

People leave Twitter claiming it has an ideological bias and immediately go start a new service that has an ideological bias. Good luck
But it's THEIR ideological bias. ;)

I don't mind differing views, I don't hate people that disagree with me, I don't need to be surrounded by clones of myself. We need to get back to talking with others and stop seeing people as evil if they don't agree with us.

and then people who are pro-bluesky ignore stuff like this:

as the saying goes: "same sh*t, different bowl."

Besides begging for subscribers and raising fee, I have to thank EM. Without this dude, I may still be doomscrolling and part of the problem. Remember the killing off third-party app access, yeap that's the day I said goodbye.

People pay to get misinformation and propaganda? Wow, I’m glad I’m not on X.

If you think X is the only media site that contains or promotes propaganda and misinformation, please let me introduce you to the legacy media, who for decades have dealt in both and offered it up for free, in the case of some TV networks. There are very few publications or outlets online that are immune from misinformation or propaganda from either political side, which is why everyone needs to be skeptical of what they believe and do their own homework. It also doesn't hurt to read content from "the other side", to get a different perspective on issues.

You mean like Fox and their $787 million defamation settlement?

Or maybe like the entirety of the legacy media that covered up Biden's mental deficiencies for the last few years? Maybe it was also like that same media that lied about Hunter Biden and intentionally buried a legitimate news story that many voters later said would have caused them to change their vote in the 2020 election away from Biden. It also could have been the suppression of COVID-19 data and information and banning people or labeling them some derogatory term for producing information regarding the dangers hidden within the "vaccines" and their complete lack of effectiveness, in many cases, while parroting the lie that they prevented you from getting the virus.

I can do this all day, Dave. If you think I'm going to be an ally of Fox News and defend them in this tit for tat discussion, you're mistaken. Fox News is controlled opposition, they're tools of the establishment, they don't want political reform (as a company).
