I’ve been thinking about the potential impact of the optical stabilization on the tele lens of the X and was wondering if it could have a larger impact than we anticipate. Couldn’t they use that additional information to make the center of the wide angle shot sharper? Now that they are both stabilized I image it would be much easier to fuse the images together and gain additional sharpness. I remember hearing that the 7+ did something like that when it came out, but didn’t hear much afterwards.

With all this CPU/GPU power it would be really cool to see them pull some magic out and make the X cameras pull ahead a bit more with the wider tele aperature and stabilization. I’m looking forward to seeing some comparisons.

Not only OIS but the iPhone X's zoom lens also has a wider aperture. This should allow foe better low light photography when using the zoom lens. The two working together for depth mapping should allow for images that are both technically superior and visually superior to the iPhone 8+

The ISP in both the 8 / Plus and X got an upgrade also allowing for real-time lighting estimation and faster auto focus.
