X camera sound: unmutable?

My mute switch doesn’t mute the shutter sound on X like it did on my previous iPhones. Is there a way to turn the shutter sound off?

Where did you purchase the iPhone X? I believe some countries, like Japan, legislate that the shutter sound can't be disabled.

It is not a Law, but in Japan all camera phones have a shutter sound that can not be disabled. The thought is it will prevent would be perverts.

Yeah true it’s probably a good idea for stopping that but it would be annoying for normal people who aren’t sick in the head lol

I kind of like that law. There are all kinds of jerks taking clandestine pics sometimes.

I’ve done it myself, TBH: there was a horrid tattoo that I had to share with my BFF, for instance. I probably wouldn’t have taken the pic if it had been obvious.
