I've just looked at the Xplane site, and you can buy digital download or a DVD. My internet can be a bit pants (out in the country) but the site talked about needing the USB key WITH the DVD option so that you didn't always have to have the DVD spinning around as you used the game. So what do they mean? Can you just load the program on your machine using the DVD in the same way you would download it, and then you're done with the DVD? Or do you always need it? And in that case what's with the USB key?
So confused…
Cheers,
Josh

X-Plane requires DVD Disc 1 to be inserted about once a week otherwise it reverts to demo mode only which only gives you a very small area in which to fly. It only needs to be inserted briefly but I still find it very annoying. This is a ridiculous throwback to to 2002 or thereabouts!

The USB stick allows you run X-Plane without having to insert the DVD at regular intervals. I have no idea about the digital download...the DVD version has 8 discs so it'll be an enormous download.

Yeah, this is a lazy approach to solve the piracy problem.

I did the same thing for xplane 9. For xplane 10, I decided to purchase it from steam instead of the DVD. (Of course, I think steam occasionally does it's own check via the Internet, but as a user it is transparent for me vs the DVD/iso check).
