I’ve had my iPhone for six days and am delighted with it. No complaints.

But I keep looking for the home button and then remembering there isn’t one. Sometimes I click the right-hand button because my brain is telling me “click something”!

How long has it taken you to fully make the transition?

No. But I do often try and ignore my home button on my iPads 😉

I've had the iPhoneX since release date and no longer look for the home button. Oddly enough, I do find myself staring at the IPP10.5 to see if it will unlock. After 3 awkward seconds, I finally push the home button.

It’s the opposite for me. I’m finding I’m swiping up with all my devices. Also I sometimes forget and just stare at my iPad and wondering why it’s not unlocking.

Apple nailed it with the new gestures imo . It’s better than using a home button, and Face ID is the perfect compliment. If I hated it I would totally say it too lol

This. Took me 15 minutes to get used to it. If that. I am selling my old 6 plus and kept trying to swipe up to go home...

My own opinion is that a lot of phone interactions require more manipulations and take more time. I was demonstrating mine to my 29 year old son (who has one on order) today and was really struck by what I feel are backward steps in terms of ergonomics.

Edit to add: even with that I do really like the X. It's an amazing piece of hardware.

No. And I don't understand why people find it difficult to use such a simple gesture that should already be second nature at this point. In fact, my problem is that I find myself wanting to use the swipe up gesture to return home when using the old iPhones.

Honestly, the gesture just objectively makes sense with the theme of a smartphone.

Gestures are naturally used to navigate our phones, so why wouldn’t unlocking it be carried out in the same manner? Just feels natural.

I sort of do. I used to use the home button to figure out which way the phone goes. At night I keep pulling my iPhone X out upside down!

But as of wanting to use the home button, no.

No, I adjusted pretty much within the first day. I will admit to still occasionally swiping up to try and get the Control Centre, but that's because I have rarely tried to get there since getting my X. I'm sure I'll get accustomed to that in time as well.

I think everyone has a different learning curve. But for me, it was instantaneous. I still have an appreciation for the home button, but gesture controls has a lot of potential with the iPhone and iPad.

Nah. It was an easy and surprisingly quick transition. But I do find myself trying to use gestures to open my partners iPhone 7 Plus.
