Yeah, so I did the really smart thing and left my hard drive attached when I sent my 360 in yesterday for RROD service.

    A few questions:

    1) It's still in transit. Is there any way I can turn it around (without the tracking number) or contact the folks who are supposed to repair it before they do anything with the hard drive along the lines of, you know, throwing it out?

    2) If I don't contact the Xbox people, what will probably happen to my hard drive?

Either they will replace the console and send it back to you 'with your existing HDD' or they will replace ALL including your HDD.

    Just keep your fingers crossed.....

I did hear from someone that there is a higher chance of microsoft replacing the console with a new machine if it is returned with a HDD attached, as they simply swap it out... So that (if true) is good news for your 360 (you may not get a refurb) but bad news for your HDD.
