I believe that's part of the strategy with Apple Arcade: every game will appear on ALL of Apple's platforms. You'll have your choice of where you play it, which in turn would stimulate greater use of the Mac and Apple TV for gaming.

We will see about Arcade... How cash will flow to developers and so on. I get the impression it will be more quality games there where simple ones will still stay on regular app store.

And as a random developer regular app store might be better. Only need to support one the one simply biggest segment (iPhone), can sell my app directly and get at least 70 cents per user and can still capitalize more with in app payments.

Think about it:
Apple will get AAA Games for apple tv that are compatible with all ios AND mac devices... buy once, play everywhere (in the apple ecosys).
Would be a big push, if mac gaming would become more serious. Actually, I think that Mac and gaming could be the key to crack the windows wide open for the pc/mac market. Bring some macs with a decent gamer config (good gfx) and good pricing (not „breakthrough pricing“ like Tim said yesterday about the mac pro).

Apple is directly subsidizing the development costs of the Apple Arcade games, so there is a potential advantage there in terms of $$ for developers. You've also got Apple providing a way to more easily port iOS/iPad OS apps to macOS outside of Apple Arcade. The potential is there for breaking down the barriers that had traditionally compartmentalized Apple's various hardware platforms. I know that my own tendency is to frequently check iOS for new games, infrequently check macOS for new games, and rarely check ATV for new games. That would change if it became more common for games to appear across all the various hardware.

There is a hard truth to look at here if Apple really decides to get serious about gaming on Apple TV, though Apple Arcade is a good start.

The storage simply isn't going to cut it. 32/64 GB? They may need to release new "gaming" Apple TVs that at least have SD Card or external drive support.

Personally, Apple Arcade seems enough for me, but I would barely call myself a casual gamer, much less a hardcore one.

AppleTV has tons of potential, good performance, better support for gaming controllers, but none of the game franchises people are into are there. It seems like Apple may need to reach out to some game studios to get some AAA titles ported in; it may even take an initial investment to take the gaming ecosystem to the next level. Apple could offer some incentives or even just throw money at them. They could afford it.
It's called Apple Arcade and it's coming.

And yes, I too see a lot of potential for gaming on AppleTV. A true multifunctionality device that should rival gaming consoles. But it's not there yet.
