I recently subscribed to the Ubisoft gaming subscription. I canceled Netflix and just moved that monthly fee over to try out some gaming services. I love the simplicity of playing a game through the browser. Currently playing Assassins Creed Mirage, Latest Ferry and Batman Arkham knight (game holds up so well).

Anyways with all that being said I was looking at the Xbox Game Pass, more games for about the same price. What I am not clear on is can I play these games in a browser? Or do I have to install them all. I don't mind installing, but much prefer the simplicity of. playing through a browser. Loads up fast, no eaten up hard drive space, still looks and plays perfectly.

Yes. Game Pass Ultimate includes access to PC games (that you download and install), access to XBox games (that you download and install) and access to XBox Cloud Gaming, which stream to your computer or device via a web browser or app (no installation required).

Note that not all games on the service are available for all tiers. You may want to check and make sure the games you want to play are accessible via Streaming and not download-only (scroll down, under the header 'Refine results" select "Plays On" then "Cloud")

Thanks, missed that filter before. It is pretty impressive the amount of games they have, especially considering it is basically the same price as the Ubisoft subscription. I seem to be getting mixed results though, I have it filtered for cloud and see NHL 24. I click on it to see the game and it says playable on Xbox one, nothing about Cloud.

I think that's just an indicator of which XBox series it's supported on (most games support both generations, a few only support the newer Series X & S). I logged into my Game Pass account to double check and NHL24 was available to launch via XBox Cloud. Happy to check any other game you're interested in to make sure.

Thanks and appreciate you checking! Do you know if that one lets you play with others through the cloud version of the game? A good friend and I used to play at my place, but he moved away and thought this would be a great way to connect. He would be on a Mac playing through the cloud. The little I found when googling was a reddit threat saying it did not work on a Mac.

Huh, that's a good question. I generally avoid playing online multiplayer via cloud streaming due to the potential for lag, but as an experiment in the past I've tried playing my favorite Halo games via streaming and multiplayer has worked just fine. My understanding is that cloud streaming should support every feature it would support if you were running it locally, but obviously some games might be different for whatever technical reason.

The only difference I can think of is that NHL24 is an EA Play game. EA Play and Game Pass are competing services, but Microsoft has an agreement to allow EA Play games on Game Pass. Maybe multiplayer isn't part of that.

If I have time, I'll try spinning up NHL24 and see if I can join some kind of online play. Busy week, though, so can't guarantee when I can get to it.

no rush, appreciate you willing to check it out to see if it works. I am planning to switch to Xbox Game Pass end of September. I have Ubisoft now, going to give that new open world Start Wars game a try when it comes out end of the month, have a feeling it is not going to keep me hooked and also comparing the Ubisoft library to the Xbox Gamepass library, there is so much more for the same price

The world of gaming has evolved from pixelated screens and simple mechanics into a multibillion-dollar industry with an immersive experience that captures the imagination of millions. In recent years, gaming has become more than just a pastime; it’s a social and cultural phenomenon. With advancements in technology, deep storytelling, and the rise of gaming communities, the industry is constantly growing and innovating.

So how is this performance on an iPhone 16/16Pro?

I would think the lag would mostly occur at the cloud hosting location, and maybe a user on an IPhone would see a different kind of lag especially needing to use WiFi vs Ethernet locally.

No matter, I'd think console-less gaming is the future.

I am sure it is fine, I tried playing Assassins Creed on my iPhone 13 and iPad Pro that is about 6 years old and they played flawlessly with my PS4 controller connected via bluetooth to both devices.
