So basically i've taken an interest in learning basic computer programming. I'm running a standard white 2008 Macbook. I've searched around a little bit and xcode seems to be what i'm looking for as a program that is better than codeblocks or some other more glitchy alternatives. I read that it comes with Leopard however my disc drive recently stopped working, so it would be nice if anyone could confirm that it is on the osx 10.5 installation dvds and if so i could probably take it into a mac store and have them remotely install it. Other than this is there any other free way to get xcode 3 without an Apple Developer Id?

I think its available on the iOS Dev centre even if your not a registered developer, don't know if its SL only, but you could always have a look. And yes Xcode is included on the OS X install DVD's
