Hello all, short question. What system requirements are needed/ recommended for Xcode.

My son (12 years old) wants to learn programming in Xcode. I am looking to buy a second hand Mac Mini for him, it's a late 2012 with a 2.3Ghz quad core I7, 8GB ram and 256GB SSD. (I could add another 8GB RAM if needed) Would that machine be sufficient to start learning to build IOS apps? Or would something with a beefier GPU be necessary?

Not sure. My 2010 iMac had a 2.93GHZ QUAD-CORE INTELCORE I7 and 8GB 1333MHZ DDR3 SDRAM. It was absolutely NOT sufficient for developing with Xcode. My compiles would take several minutes if they even worked at all.

You want a Mac that can run Mojave. 8GB Ram would be light. 12GB or 16GB would be good. The other specs seem OK.

Thank you. I have bought the Mac Mini today and put 16GB of ram in it so I guess/ hope it will be sufficient for his purposes. Now the only thing I have to do tomorrow is buy him a monitor ;-)
