What's with Xcode and updates via the App Store? The last several times I've gone through updates for Xcode it's been rocky, and this latest (to 7.3.1) is no different. First it sat "Waiting" for several minutes. Then it went through what appeared to be a normal-length (time-wise) download, now I'm watching it try to figure out how long it's going to take to install. Started at < 1m, then starting incrementing up to 6 minutes, then jumped up to 15 minutes (remember, this is post-download!), then dropping back down to 3 minutes, and now it's been sitting at "Installing - less than a minute" for almost five minutes. This is on an SSD-based system.
Updating OS X and its various supporting actors was at one time pretty painless and a LOT better than what I had dealt with on the Windows side. Now the App Store (should be Ap for apoplectic) is just about as bad as the old Windows experience. Come on, Apple, you've been handling this type of service for many years (oops - just bounced up to 9 minutes, now 7, now 3, ...) and it is NOT rocket science. Of course, it's not iPhone, either. But it's probably pretty damn thin on the ground, right Jony?
