I just downloaded XCOM UFO Defense from direct2drive.com.
I also have DosBox 0.73.
I have OS X 10.5.7 on my MacBook.

I don't know anything about dos, or about software in general. I have I just want to kill some aliens, and have fun with this game. I've scoured the websites, but I can't figure out to get it to work?

So far, I have discovered how to mount my files. And I have done this, and I can see the .exe file in the screen. However, I get the reply "this program cannot be run in dos mode." What's up with that?

Please... I want to kill some greys.

Ok I got it running up to the point of the password protection. It asks for the password on a page, but it doesn't work. It also cites "EG: Page 13 of Game Manual Code: 3994-9668"

1- There is no code on page 13
2- Code 3994-9668 is page 19's code? WTF?

Am I missing something?

Ok I'm sorry for the multi-posts but I just discovered an annoying solution...
I figured that page 13 is 6 pages below page 19 (The referred to page and the actual page the password belongs too)

So when the game asks for the password to page 67, I entered the password for page 72 instead (six pages higher), and it it seemed to work. WTF?

Anyways... I've got the beginning of the game running, at the speed of sound almost. Anyway of slowing this thing down a litle?

And my sound effects seem to be goofed too ie: i cant hear shots fired, people dying, etc....

please help

I have a macbook pro os x verson 10.4.11
